"This crustless chocolate chip pie is like a big, super-thick chocolate chip cookie. It is great served with scoops of vanilla or butter pecan ice cream....and if you want to truly indulge, top the ice cream with some hot fudge!"

  1. is the entry in recipe of 1 tablespoon of baking powder correct? That seems excessive since the other ingredients measurements seem appropriate for a single layer cookie/cake

  1. We have really enjoyed this pie! And it was easy! I followed the recipe as written (including pecans), and was rewarded with a wonderfully yummy, densely rich pie. This was cut into smaller pieces (12) as it is really rich, and that was a great serving size...Thanks so much for sharing, breezermom! I'll definitely be making this again!

  2. This was a big hit with my family and I got a couple of requests to share the recipe.. I followed the recipe exactly, using about 3/4 of the bag of chips because there really were enough at that point, and leaving out the nuts. I baked for the minimum amount of time in a deep dish glass pie pan, and it was a little more well done at the edges than I would have preferred. Next time I would check it 5 minutes earlier. Some ate it plain, some topped it with Cool Whip.

  3. This was great - like one giant delicious cookie! I followed the other users' reviews and creamed the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla together before adding the dry ingredients. I didn't have any problems with uneven cooking. The whole pie was just chewy and gooey enough. I also only put 1/2 the chocolate chips in as a whole bag seemed like overkill. Thanks for the posting! Made for Holiday Tag.

  4. I ended up adding a little bit more butter to this to make the mixture moist. I used Splenda instead of regular sugar. It turned out just perfect. I took it out of the oven , let it stand and cool for a few minutes and sliced it and topped it with vanilla ice cream. Oh so good! Thanks for the great recipe.

  5. I had trouble with this recipe. It was too dry and crumbly with only 1/2 cup of butter. I ended up adding more, but it was still crumbly. Also, I wonder if it would work better to cream the butter and sugar and eggs together first, then add the dry stuff. It turned out ok, but not the cookie like texture I was expecting.

Tweaks

  1. This pie is yummy. I did change one small thing and that was to mix the sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs together first in the KA mixer and then added the dry ingredients as that is how I always do baked goods. I used chopped almonds in place of the walnuts as a personal preference. Yummy dessert to share with my teen daughter's friend during study night! Made during Potluck Tag game.
